FEED (Front End Engineering Design)

FEED (Front End Engineering Design) means Basic Engineering which is conducted after completion of Conceptual Design or Feasibility Study. At this stage, before start of EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction), various studies take place to figure out technical issues and estimate rough investment cost.

FEED ENGINEERING INC. (FEED) founded in 2008 by Mehrdad Gharib (P.Eng, M.Sc., PMP), has put together more than 25 years of experiences and knowledge in oil and gas industry from each discipline and created a comprehensive solution for oil & gas and energy projects (such as Cryogenic and LNG gas plants).

FEED offer a complete range of products and services from front-end engineering through to detailed design/engineering, safety and control systems; our design team routinely works to a wide range of design codes including NFPA, CSA, ISA, API and ASME standards. Our team of highly skilled professionals from multiple disciplines will utilize all aspects of technology (process, mechanical, piping, control systems and electrical) to implement projects from conceptual design to detailed engineering and commissioning.

FEED has the ownership of two provisional patents in Micro-LNG (US Provisional Patent number 62264275) and Waste Heat Recovery Unit – SmartGen (US Provisional Patent number 62682170). These patents are the basic technology that FEED has been developing with the partnership of NRC (National Research of Canada) and it included several renowned engineers and scientist working together to develop the best available technology for manufacturing of these systems.

Our design philosophy has four essential elements: reliability, efficiency, safety and environmental protection. FEED has a well-organized project management system for ensuring the project is completed on time, on budget, and meets or exceeds the client expectations. We have developed a comprehensive database system to facilitate the specification, purchasing, receiving and documentation of equipment. From feasibility studies and environmental compliance, to detailed design, management, and construction, we bring together the talent and expertise necessary to deliver success.

We have existing working relationship and partnership with other Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) Companies in Canada that we can collaborate with to execute projects of any scale and deliver on a tight (fast track) schedule. We also work with a number of associates and industry experts who provide services on “as needed” basis.
